what does the training involve?

The part-time programme in Orthopaedic (Footwear) Technology offers a unique opportunity to specialise in the fitting, design and manufacture of orthopaedic shoes. During this programme, you will learn how to develop orthopaedic shoes that improve the daily lives of clients with physical limitations. You will combine technical and medical knowledge with social skills to provide custom-made solutions.

As an orthopaedic technologist, you will be the expert in developing devices that improve clients' mobility and quality of life. During the part-time programme, you will already be working in practice, where you will apply your knowledge directly and help clients with:

• Fitting and design of orthopaedic shoes.
• Using advanced technologies, such as 3D scanning and printing, to manufacture devices.
• Advising and guiding clients in the use of these tools.
